Quick Answer
What is checked in the Israel skill test?
Practical trade skill under time pressure: reading the drawing, correct technique, measurement accuracy, finishing quality and safe work habits. Speed matters, but accuracy and technique matter more.
Before the Test
- 1Practice your core trade task daily for 2 weeks (e.g., tying rebar per BBS, erecting a formwork panel, laying tiles to level)
- 2Revise basic measurements — mm/cm conversions, reading a tape quickly
- 3Prepare your documents folder: passport copy, photos, experience certificates
- 4Sleep well; arrive 1 hour early with your own basic hand tools if permitted
During the Test
- Read/understand the drawing FIRST — 2 minutes of planning saves 10 minutes of rework
- Work clean: examiners mark housekeeping and safety
- Measure twice, fix once — accuracy beats speed
- If you make a mistake, correct it calmly; do not panic
Common Failure Reasons
- Wrong bar spacing / tile level due to skipping the drawing
- Poor finishing in the final 10 minutes due to time mismanagement
- Unsafe practices (no gloves, throwing tools)
- Fake experience — obvious within minutes to examiners
